There are a number of cruise ships doing some good knots on the high seas these days. One of these ships is the Norwegian Epic. The Epic is considered among the best cruise ships ever to have been made by man. The Epic is operated by NCL and is one of the biggest ships in its fleet.
Beginning with the hardware of the ship, you will find that the tonnage of the ship is 153,000 tons. The ship can carry as many as 4100 passengers based upon double occupancy. Today, it may easily be considered as one of the largest cruise ships that are plying the high seas. The Epic is also one of the most uniquely designed cruise ships of the day. The ship has been designed to give a feel of a lot of open space especially in all the public areas. Yet at some places this extremely open design does not seem to have worked in its favor. Considering the overall exterior hull and super structure of the ship, it is not among the most conventionally designed products. The bow and the stern of the ship look a bit odd. Neither of these two have a sleek look that can be found in the modern day cruise ships.
As if this was not enough for an unconventional design, the designers have also installed a super mas-sive appendage that rises as high as three deck. The entire thing loos like someone forgot to build it in the superstructure at the beginning, then ran back to work, placed the 'thing' where ever he could and the rest of the team just ran with it, because of either lack of time or because nobody really cared.
Thankfully, the decor of the ship is toned down unlike most of the other NCL ships which are known for their ridiculously loud interiors and decor. The interior width of the ship carries the illusion of be-ing uniform sized but many areas, particularly the public areas only have this illusion. Do not expect this to confuse you though. It is still easy to find your way around the ship. Yet you can expect to find a new wonder on the ship everyday if you plan well. For all its shortcomings, the ship is still very re-freshing.
The food of the Epic is also one of the noticeable aspects of the ship. Consider the main dining area of the ship, here The Manhattan Room is well recommended. The food in this place was anywhere between OK to pretty good. What made eating on the ship truly enjoyable is that all the dining areas are very airy and open.
Despite all its shortcomings, Norwegian Epic is a cruise ship that one can fall in love with very easily.
